Zero hunger for young people is our target. Despite being a developed country, the number of those who are living at the lower end of the income distribution in the United Kingdom is increasing every day and more and more youths have a relatively low standard of living. With this level of poverty, in some areas of our society, there have been thousands of food banks in London and nationwide, many operating differently. Our food sharing project for youth aims to operate on both the front line, giving out food directly to the hungry, and also with a warehouse, supplying food to intermediaries like food pantries, soup kitchens, pop up restaurants for homeless and other front-line organisations.
How we can help you…
How we work
The Youth Aid Council work with frontline local professionals who are best placed to identify people in need and issue them with a foodbank voucher.
Your referral and voucher
Once you are referred by our partners, bring the voucher to one of our foodbank centres, where it can be exchanged for a parcel containing a minimum of nutritionally balanced food for the short-term.
Get in touch
When you get in touch, either by phone, email, or walk-in and explain your need, we will tell you which referral agencies we work with, and how you can get a voucher.
Other support you need
On arrival, you will be welcomed by a friendly member of the staff who will hear your needs, provide a food parcel and help you find support to resolve the difficulties that have led to you needing to use the food bank.
Who we work with
Our local referral agencies such as childrenโs centres, job centres, housing associations, advice charities and mental health teams, will assess the help and support. you need.
